Rod Ellis

I'm Rod Ellis, and I based in Ballina NSW.

I draw inspiration from our coastal areas and others around Australia. I have no favourite subject or style, I just paint what I like, usually in acrylics.

While I have had minimal training in art my profession as a sign writer/ graphic designer has proved valuable.  I rely on skills learnt over the last 40 years or so, with regards to colour and composition. I have had a paintbrush in my hand most of my life.

However, starting to paint at an older age brings its own doubts and confidence issues and that was one of the hardest challenges I had to face, so I just started, extremely self critical and fearing failure.

My work varies from day to day and I am very conscious of not becoming stereotyped so my work varies. I work in my studio garage which has a fridge and an air conditioner, TV and music, what more can a man want.

Thanks to BACCI, local artists have a chance to exhibit and be supported in our area. It’s important and they do a fantastic job.

Welcome to BACCI, a local arts group with an interesting variety of artists and crafters. This makes BACCI an exciting and social community to be involved in. New members are always welcome.

All members have the opportunity to participate in up to three wonderful group exhibitions a year. These are in conjunction with fundraising for charitable community groups.

BACCI is a non-profit organisation for the promotion of arts & crafts in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales. BACCI is run by, and for, the group by BACCI volunteers in committee positions.
